Unity B4 Heresy Blog Round-up

Image
The Christmas week round up from UB4H. This week as you can imagine we've had a fair bit on our plate (turkey jokes aside) and as such progress has been a little slower than normal but let's kick off this, our last round up from 2018. The Christmas break is always an odd one in the Fluff household - always stuff to do but limited motivation to do - well anything. I’m sure most hobbyists suffers the same malaise at this time of year. Having motivation to push through it (and 0 hobby goodies for Christmas to distract me) I decided to press on with my Adeptus Titanicus Maniple for the blog’s Xmas bash (more on that coming as a battle report in the next couple of weeks). I also started putting together my own AT terrain. Unlike the Colonel and Tylar I’ve gone for alternative terrain to the plastic Games Workshop stuff so that I’ll have a bit more versatility when it comes to using it for other systems (namely Epic Legions) - expect to see a review of the company on the blog s

Adeptus Titanicus - Basing Tutorial

Merry Christmas everyone!  If you're visiting the blog today for a hobby fix or to follow our progress then thanks for joining us. 😊   Tylar here, a bit later than originally planned,  all that Xmas food and drink meant a bit of an afternoon snooze before more hobby time. 😛 As hobbyists all three members of the blog take great pride in what we do be it painting, sculpting, styrene(plasticard) work and kit-bashing or just in general discussion about the things we enjoy and like to share.  To that end I've been working on the bases for my Titans for my chosen Legio, the defenders of Calth and general last stand heroes the Legio Praesagius.  If you haven't listened to or read Honour the Dead then I thoroughly recommend it.  Onto the Titans! Having seen quite a lot of people doing really cool things with their bases I wanted to emulate Calth and the Romanesque based architecture and nature of the majority of the 500 worlds. I'll be honest I haven't d

'Twas the night B4 Christmas...

'Twas the night B4 Christmas, when all through the palace  Not a creature was stirring, not without malice;  The wargear was placed by the guard post with care,  In fears that The Primordial Annihilator soon would be there;  The Primarchs were nestled all snug in stasis beds;  While visions of compliances danced in their heads;  And Malcky in his hood, and I in my throne,  Had just settled our minds for a long wait alone,  When out on the walls there arose such a clatter,  I sprang from my throne to see what was the matter.  Away to the window I flew like a flash,  Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.  The moon on the breast of the Himalayan snow,  Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,  When what to my wondering eyes came from afar,  But a miniature daemon and an eight pointed star,  A little old daemon so lively and slick,   I knew in a moment we must ready ourselves quick.  More rapid than eagles his curses they came,

Unity B4 Heresy Blog Round-up last before Xmas

Evening everyone! Tylar here again to round-up the UB4H member's week of hobby.  There's a lot to update you on with what's been happening in the back-ground and what's to come over the next week mainly Titans! 😉 The fantastic artwork from Titan Death which I myself downloaded from Black Library yesterday. This week has seen King Fluff preparing for war at Heresy Birmingham/Board in Brum’s Return To Harmony event. It was a Scout Force FOC so a little tweaking was required to those models he already had at his disposal - so he painted up a couple more Sagittarum for the event (taking two squads of 3) - they performed admirably and were a great addition to the restricted FOC. He had to take a navigator as his mandatory HQ as power levels restricted the use of shield captains. The highlight of the event was after having to hide the navigator almost every game, he ended up in a prime spot behind a collective tonne of containers as a 20 man tactical squad including a

The Horus Heresy - Painting Custodes with King Fluff's Gold Recipe

Hey guys, King Fluff here with a little update for my Talons of the Emperor force. I get lots of people ask at events and such how I do my golden armour and as such I thought I'd take the opportunity to do a step by step account of the process as I'm currently painting up a few additional Custodes for an event. In this instance I'm painting Sagittarum Guard, As these guys are mostly gold I thought it would be a good example to use. STEP 1: Build and prep your model as normal - for these guys it was fine to build them in their entirety as accessing small details behind build sections wasn't going to be an issue. Bare plastic and resin construction STEP 2: Priming and base coat. For these particular models these steps are one and the same. I used Retributor Armour spray paint from Games Workshop for the base gold colour. I love rattle cans, and use them extensively on models and scenery, once you get proficient in their use they can do some of the same th

Adeptus Titanicus - Legio Praesagius List (1500pts)

Welcome everyone to another post on the up-coming Adeptus Titanicus game between the blog members. Tylar here, I'll be covering my chosen Titan Legion the Legio Praesagius or 'True Messengers' list.  We decided on 1500pts, which meant like the others I would need to work out what models I needed to get built and painted to be ready to play.  As an old school AT player from the original game this Titan Legion is a bit of a break from the norm for me.  I have been a staunch Legio Ignatum (Fire Wasps) fan for years and my 28mm Titans have and will be painted in their colours.  So why a change?  Well having listened to Honour the Dead, a great audio drama from Black Library, I really enjoyed the struggle of the Legio during the battles on Calth.  Also I like a challenge now and again and I've never painted a white/blue based army.  As an Imperial Fist player this was an interesting option for me. Honour the Dead artwork from Black Library. I'll be leading with
