Adeptus Titanicus - What's in a Name? Naming Legio Gryphonicus Titans

Hi Col.Hertford here.

Today's post is about the names I am giving to my Adeptus Titanicus Legio Gryphonicus Titans.  I like to think that Titans are the battleships of the land, so a name is an important part of its character.  There are a few names for Gryphonicus Titans already, so I named them along the conventions I saw.

I have named the Warhounds in each maniple along a common theme, which is something Forgeworld have done in there previous books.  Currently I have plans to build a Myrmidon and a Venator.  I came up the names of the Axiom Maniple while the creative juices were flowing.  I may build this maniple at a later date.

I have rendered the names are in both Low and (high) Gothic.

Myrmidon Maniple
Warlord - Iron Breaker (Ferrum Ruptor)
Warlord - Golden Glory (Aureum Gloria)
Warlord - Foe Slayer (Hostis Interfectorem)
Reaver - Star Lord (Stella Dominus)
Reaver - Fabriactors Guardian (Factorem Custos)

Venator Maniple
Reaver - Honour Kill (Honoris Occiditis)
Warhound - Rapid Victory (Celeri Victoria)
Warhound - Bloody Victory (Cruenta Victoria)
Warhound - Noble Victory (Nobili Victoria)
Warhound - Great Victory (Magna Victoria)

Axiom Maniple
Warlord - Steel Tyrant (Ferro Tyrannus)
Reaver  - Heavy Heart (Cordi Pessimo)
Reaver  - Duties Burden (Officiorum Onus)
Warhound - Great Wolf (ingens lupus)
Warhound - Fierce Wolf (Lupus Rapax)

During our campaigns I really want these titans to come to life and develop personalities (in my twisted imagination), much as my 28mm Titans have.  I am going to use this as the basis of the back stories for each.

Have you named your titans?  Do you think its pointless as they always run hot and die?  Let us know in the comments section below!

The long hobby war continues...
