Introducing Tylar Fasolt
Welcome! Wow it's taken some time to get here but get here we are. This is the beginning of a new era of Horus Heresy Blogging taking you through some of the most iconic moments from before, during and after.
Like my co-bloggers I started out in the hobby 30 years ago. That's a lot of hobby! For me it was initially Space Crusade, followed shortly after by Adeptus Titanicus and Space Hulk. Since then I haven't looked back.
I began my entrance into the world of Games Workshop full of wonder having grown up building Airfix kits of model aircraft. The Sci-Fi nature of GW's games and models appealed to a ten year old who had been allowed to watch Aliens up late with his Dad....yeah I know pretty progressive but it was the 80's and my Dad was convinced that a hint of swearing and some violence wasn't going to turn me into an axe murderer. And films like the Terminator and Predator only drew me to hobby more. I mean seriously if you've watched Aliens you know a Xeno-morph is one step from a Genestealer....😂
Pages of White Dwarf were filled will amazing Stories and artwork like those from Mark Gibbons and Adrian Smith.
I started painting Imperial Fists for both Space Crusade and Space Hulk. I was then drawn by the Space Wolves after a printed Space Hulk campaign in White Dwarf and since second edition they had been my main army within 40K until the recent change to 8th. I've passed on this gaming system focusing on Horus Heresy and despite my love for all things wolf like I've stayed away from them, for now, concentrating back on my Imperial Fists.
I've played an Imperial guard Armoured company and own a lot of tanks. I also have two Warhound Titans and a Reaver Titan among many, many, many other beautiful resin Forgeworld models. Many of which remain to be seen anywhere in the blogosphere from me and I'll be showcasing them right here on UB4H. This is a scratch built Malcador I did that's floating around the internet in various places. It's one part of the hobby that I really enjoy scratch building and prototyping of new things. I'll be bringing that to the blog in abundance as we move forwards.
These days since the inception of the Horus Heresy my focus has been on narrative play where I can and just enjoying my gaming. I've been privileged to be able to do this with close friends and I've made new ones along the way. It's amazing what happens attending a HH:Weekender followed by a few community organised gaming campaign weekends.
Suffice to say I'm excited to share what will be the future of my gaming projects with you all from Scenery and Terrain, Unification War era armies, HH based gaming modelling and new armies along the way....I have more planned don't worry, and finally Adeptus Titanicus and everything that will entail. It's exciting times hold on for the ride!
Hi Tylar, great toread about how you got into the hobby - our journeys have been pretty similar!
ReplyDeleteI’m also a fan of scratch building, something I do to make vehicles for my 28mm Squats (which I run as an Imperial Militia List). I’ve made a Colossus, an Overlord airship and a Hellbore, plus a Kharybdis for my VI Legion Unification Wars veterans force for 30k.

Hey Graham great reading your comment. It's funny that's how King Fluff and I gravitated towards each other due to our similarities in how we progressed into gaming.
Delete28mm Squats! That's fantastic, we'd love to see some of your work. If you'd like to get in touch direct please email us over at unityb4heresy@gmail.com with some of your Picts of your armies. I've seen some really good conversions out there of Squats and we're keen to represent lots of different armies in our future gaming too. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
