Introducing Col.Hertford

Hi I'm Col.Hertford, one third of the Unity Before Heresy founding members.  I used to blog solo, but blogger support meant I moved to Instagram a while ago.

I started this hobby many years ago (before the Berlin wall fell, or the gameboy was released) with a set of 15mm Grenadier Models Fantasy Orcs (long since lost), this was followed up by the games which inspired much of my current hobby.  Space Marine and Adeptus Titanicus. Being a good hobby butterfly, I have never limited myself to a single game system, but I do always come back to GW/FW Heresy offerings, particularly big, stompy robots, with massive guns.

It’s fair to say I’m a little Titan mad, these have always been my first love hobby wise.  I got my first back in 2007 (back ordered from 2006) and now have a strong maniple.  It’s fair to say I have a few Titans, these will get shown on the blog in the future.  Due to this, I’m involved in (the?) two big Titan Owning Clubs, both the blog club and Facebook Page, and have helped organise an event for each.  I’m looking forward to doing more.

Currently I’m collecting 28mm forces for Legio Tempestus, House Taranis, House Makabius, Alpha Legion, Thousand Sons, Iron Warriors, Space Wolves, Legio Custodes and Mechanicum.  As you can tell, I will generally be the traitor in most game (though King Fluffs Night Lords and TSons will also strike fear into the imperial hearts)

For Adeptus Titanicus I’m collecting, Legio Gryphonicus, Legio Tempestus and Legio Furens, with Knight Houses Makabius, Taranis and Vyronii in support.

I’m currently 3d printing epic (8mm) tanks for use in future campaign.  This is really exciting for me as I just love massed tank and Titan Battles and it will fill a void in my soul, but more on this in a future post.  I’m also printing Battlefleet Gothic ships as we all loved the Badab and Taros campaigns use of space fights to support ground campaigns.

I’m really excited to be involved in this blog, and hope you enjoy our content!

  1. Are you using your own files to print the tanks, or something on Shapeways or Thingiverse?

    1. Hi Schoon, It will be mainly Thingiverse, thought I have some other files for printing from elsewhere. I will be designing some terrain too though. Many thanks for the comment.
