The Horus Heresy - Zone Mortalis

Image
Hi All, Col.Hertford here with a post about something different today.  This is a bit special for me, as it’s about a model that I have wanted since it came out.  I've finally taken the plung and bought a Zone Mortalis board. The have enough of the tiles to make a 4 x 6 Board. Several years ago, I bought a single board for use as a backdrop for photos of miniatures.  Painted a test tile a couple of years ago, the basics at down, but the details need finishing. What do you think?  Do you have a ZM board?  What’s your thoughts about them?  Let us know in the comments below. The long hobby war continues..

Unity B4 Heresy Blog Round-up First of 2019

Image
Evening everyone welcome to the first round-up of 2019.  There's been lots going on within the UB4H camp as well as news and reveals from the Open Day at Warhammer World.  If you haven't seen them the new Titan Death Campaign book and Reaver were highlights of the day and new transfers are also in-bound.  Check out the Warhammer Community page for more info. This week Col. Hertford has been mainly working on House Vyronii knights and adding transfers to his Warlords with some great results.  He's really loving painting the models but the transfers are making him enjoy the process even more.  He's pointed out that it would be nice for there to be more transfer options (i.e. A Knight transfer sheet compatible with all Knight classes).  He's also ordered some Zone Mortalis boards and a Warlord Sunfury Plasma Annihilator.  King Fluff has been busy sorting more terrain for his Adeptus Titanicus set up which will soon be complimented with...

Adeptus Titanicus - What's in a Name? Naming Legio Gryphonicus Titans

Image
Hi Col.Hertford here. Today's post is about the names I am giving to my Adeptus Titanicus Legio Gryphonicus Titans.  I like to think that Titans are the battleships of the land, so a name is an important part of its character.  There are a few names for Gryphonicus Titans already, so I named them along the conventions I saw. I have named the Warhounds in each maniple along a common theme, which is something Forgeworld have done in there previous books.  Currently I have plans to build a Myrmidon and a Venator.  I came up the names of the Axiom Maniple while the creative juices were flowing.  I may build this maniple at a later date. I have rendered the names are in both Low and (high) Gothic. Myrmidon Maniple Warlord - Iron Breaker (Ferrum Ruptor) Warlord - Golden Glory (Aureum Gloria) Warlord - Foe Slayer (Hostis Interfectorem) Reaver - Star Lord (Stella Dominus) Reaver - Fabriactors Guardian (Factorem Custos)  ...

The Horus Heresy - Legions of Legions

Image
Hi again. As we move into the start of the new year, I, like many wargamers, have been considering my progress over the last year and critically evaluating where I'm at with projects and ultimately where I'd like to be moving forwards. It's no secret that I'm a hobby butterfly, I get excited by new prospects which draw me away from projects. This year has been no exception, having started (in March) to run regular events based in the Horus Heresy and Great Crusade eras I've found a lot of hobby time has been siphoned off into either preparing materials and player packs for events or getting scenery ready for events. As you can imagine this is no mean feat, not having a gaming club or such as the foundation of these events everything has had to be made from scratch as a start up. Thankfully I did have assistance from Col. Hertford and my event partner @the_funk_messiah in getting stuff done and help on the days the events ran but needless to say that the year was...

Unity B4 Heresy Blog Round-up

The Christmas week round up from UB4H. This week as you can imagine we've had a fair bit on our plate (turkey jokes aside) and as such progress has been a little slower than normal but let's kick off this, our last round up from 2018. The Christmas break is always an odd one in the Fluff household - always stuff to do but limited motivation to do - well anything. I’m sure most hobbyists suffers the same malaise at this time of year. Having motivation to push through it (and 0 hobby goodies for Christmas to distract me) I decided to press on with my Adeptus Titanicus Maniple for the blog’s Xmas bash (more on that coming as a battle report in the next couple of weeks). I also started putting together my own AT terrain. Unlike the Colonel and Tylar I’ve gone for alternative terrain to the plastic Games Workshop stuff so that I’ll have a bit more versatility when it comes to using it for other systems (namely Epic Legions) - expect to see a review of the company on the blog s...

Adeptus Titanicus - Basing Tutorial

Merry Christmas everyone!  If you're visiting the blog today for a hobby fix or to follow our progress then thanks for joining us. 😊   Tylar here, a bit later than originally planned,  all that Xmas food and drink meant a bit of an afternoon snooze before more hobby time. 😛 As hobbyists all three members of the blog take great pride in what we do be it painting, sculpting, styrene(plasticard) work and kit-bashing or just in general discussion about the things we enjoy and like to share.  To that end I've been working on the bases for my Titans for my chosen Legio, the defenders of Calth and general last stand heroes the Legio Praesagius.  If you haven't listened to or read Honour the Dead then I thoroughly recommend it.  Onto the Titans! Having seen quite a lot of people doing really cool things with their bases I wanted to emulate Calth and the Romanesque based architecture and nature of the majority of the 500 worlds. I'll be...

'Twas the night B4 Christmas...

Image
'Twas the night B4 Christmas, when all through the palace  Not a creature was stirring, not without malice;  The wargear was placed by the guard post with care,  In fears that The Primordial Annihilator soon would be there;  The Primarchs were nestled all snug in stasis beds;  While visions of compliances danced in their heads;  And Malcky in his hood, and I in my throne,  Had just settled our minds for a long wait alone,  When out on the walls there arose such a clatter,  I sprang from my throne to see what was the matter.  Away to the window I flew like a flash,  Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.  The moon on the breast of the Himalayan snow,  Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,  When what to my wondering eyes came from afar,  But a miniature daemon and an eight pointed star,  A little old daemon so lively and slick,   I knew in a moment we...

Unity B4 Heresy Blog Round-up last before Xmas

Evening everyone! Tylar here again to round-up the UB4H member's week of hobby.  There's a lot to update you on with what's been happening in the back-ground and what's to come over the next week mainly Titans! 😉 The fantastic artwork from Titan Death which I myself downloaded from Black Library yesterday. This week has seen King Fluff preparing for war at Heresy Birmingham/Board in Brum’s Return To Harmony event. It was a Scout Force FOC so a little tweaking was required to those models he already had at his disposal - so he painted up a couple more Sagittarum for the event (taking two squads of 3) - they performed admirably and were a great addition to the restricted FOC. He had to take a navigator as his mandatory HQ as power levels restricted the use of shield captains. The highlight of the event was after having to hide the navigator almost every game, he ended up in a prime spot behind a collective tonne of containers as a 20 man tactical squad including a...
